megaThe Venice Biennale (La Biennale di Venezia) is the oldest and most prestigious international art exhibition in the world, founded in 1895 and held biennially each odd-numbered year in Venice, Italy. Spanning the Giardini, the Arsenale, and venues throughout the city from May to November, it presents national pavilions, curated international exhibitions, and collateral events featuring hundreds of artists. The Venice Biennale's Golden Lion awards are among the most coveted honors in contemporary art.
